Sawai Jai Singh founded Jaipur and commanded the Kachwaha Rajput Clan. He built the palace on shifting the state capital from Amber to Jaipur. The last dynasty monarch was Raja Man Singh II. European-inspired architecture was designed by Vidyadhar Bhattacharya and Samuel Swinton Jacob.
The outer wall of City Palace was constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh II. Since then, other buildings and courtyards have been constructed, giving the palace's many structures specific dates.

The palace has a predefined residence of royals, working class and semi-working class. There are different mahals in it termed Mubarak mahal to welcome the guests. The Chandra Mahal is there, which was constructed on seven floors.
